Really, what do turtles have to worry about? They always have protection, a home, and most other animals don’t mess with them. Sure they’re slow, but there’s nothing wrong with taking it easy. Plus, some of them can live for hundreds of years, right? And apparently, they like to lounge in turtle hammocks between two lovely palm trees, chilling in the shade. So do I!
This project started as two tshirts:
The graphic on the I Feel Slovenia shirt I’ll be using in a future project. The gorgeous olive green of the shirt went perfectly with the natural and green colors of the turtle shirt. Exactly what I was looking for.
Here are my pieces:
I did a reverse-applique with the front. Here’s how it looked after I cut out the window:
And a few seams later:
I guess this particular turtle likes to indulge in an adult beverage, and I just loved the printing on the inside of the collar of the turtle shirt so I decided to use a new pocket technique on the inside. Here’s a different view. Hard to get a good picture while holding it open with one hand
It sort of makes two pockets because I stitched along the “shoulders,” the two sides and the bottom, but left the entire collar open. In fact, I’ll probably start using this idea for future projects too!
What do you think? If you were able to take a day off and lounge in a hammock on the beach like this turtle, what drink would you have in your hand?
